Dogs can be anxious for many reasons. Unlike us pet owners, they don’t know how to process or deal with that anxiety, which in turn can make things worse for them. They can become withdrawn, aggressive and destructive when they are upset, and this can make life difficult for everyone. As pet owners, we don’t like to see our dogs suffering, which is why we’re constantly looking for ways to help.

At Lintbells, we’ve developed YuCALM Dog: a natural, non-sedating, calming supplement for your dog that can be added to their regular diet daily and gives them a boost of essential ingredients that support calmness and happiness.

Why do dogs get anxious?

There can be many different triggers for anxiety or stress in your dog. Some of these might appear obvious, such as loud noises, other dogs or being left alone. But there are often other causes that might not be so apparent – the hoover, people wearing hats, certain music. This might depend on the environment your dog was first born into or raised in, particularly if you have a rescue dog, or it might be something that spooked them when they were young and has settled as a trigger.

Understanding that your dog is anxious is the first step to helping them get better. There are several key signs of doggy anxiety that help you to understand the circumstances or indicators that your dog is feeling distressed. Once you know this, you’re in a better position to change the environment, add a calming supplement to their diet daily and make sure you can focus on training that helps manage the anxiety.

How does YuCALM Dog work?

There’s a wide range of calming dog products on the market, and it can be difficult to know what to choose for the best outcome. We wanted to create a product that we’d be happy to give to our own dogs (and we do!), and we wanted that product to:

  • be made with natural ingredients only
  • help dogs to feel naturally calmer as soon as possible
  • work both as a long-term supplement and for specific short-term purposes
  • genuinely make dogs and their owners happier

We don’t need to baffle you with all the science, but we can tell you that all the ingredients we use are scientifically-proven to help promote the happy side of your pooch and keep anxiety at bay. Those ingredients are:

  • Lemon Balm – GABA is a neurotransmitter in your dog’s brain that helps to promote calm. When levels are low, stress goes up. Lemon Balm helps to re-balance GABA levels which in turn reduces anxiety and encourages calm behaviour.
  • B vitamins – We use Vitamins B1, B3, B6, B9 and B12. These all support the healthy function of your dog’s nervous system, making them less excitable and more able to concentrate.
  • Natural fish protein – This also supports those crucial GABA levels and works on dopamine levels too, helping to promote that ‘happy’ feeling.
  • L-Theanine - An amino acid, L-Theanine is most commonly found in green tea. We use it to support serotonin levels which provides natural calming.

All these natural ingredients are combined in a tried-and-tested formula that gets great feedback on results from dog owners, sometimes within just a week.

When do I give YuCALM Dog?

We have dog owners who give a YuCALM Dog supplement every day as their dog’s anxiety is a struggle all year round, helping to keep those stress levels down and the happy chemicals up. If your dog is subject to regular anxiety, such as when meeting other dogs on walkies, it might be worth considering this approach. For dogs who have specific anxiety problems – like becoming distressed by fireworks, for example, you may choose to start giving YuCALM a few weeks before you expect fireworks season to start, and then continue giving it to help them cope. You can stop giving it whenever you feel they have become comfortable.

YuCALM Dog comes in tablet-style supplements and in a convenient chewable format – both using the same high-strength and unique natural formula, which means they are easy to give and taste good to your favourite friend.

If you’re really worried about your dog’s anxiety and behaviour, we’d recommend you talk to a certified animal behaviourist – you can find a full register of ASAB's accredited specialists here.
