What if there was a unique, naturally-occurring, sustainably-grown source of nutrients that could help your dog maintain active, healthy joints? Well, guess what? That’s exactly what Green Lipped Mussel is, and that’s exactly why we use it in all our joint supplements.

We don’t just use it, we have direct contact with individual farmers for a sustainable supply, and we’ve developed a unique way to extract the highest quality Omega oils from the mussels. And that, combined with other key ingredients, results in our top-selling joint supplements.

Introducing the lovely Green Lipped Mussel!

OK, so it might not have the most attractive name (or looking) in the world, but it is an amazing natural nutrient, and you can’t have everything. Green Lipped Mussels are only found in the crystal-clear waters of New Zealand and get their name from the line of green around the edge of their shells.

Why is Green Lipped Mussel good for stiff joints?

The Green Lipped Mussel has naturally high concentrations of Omega oils and other fatty acids. These can help to support joints and support general joint health.

You’ll find Green Lipped Mussel in a wide range of human supplements, powders, and tablets which are designed to aid joints. We’ve included this wonderful natural ingredient in our human supplement iMOVE which helps to support joint lubrication and collagen formation. You might just forget who’s trying to keep up with whom on your morning walkies, and what’s good enough for us is absolutely good enough for our doggy best friends.

Your dog’s joints need even more care than ours do because of the amount of walking, running and jumping they do. That’s why this ingredient is so often used in canine, as well as human, supplements.

Be wary that the quality and concentration of Green Lipped Mussel can vary greatly from one brand to the next. We’re proud that our ActivEase® Green Lipped Mussel contains four times as much active Omega 3 than standard versions. This large range means that it’s worth doing your homework to make sure you choose a supplement that’s formulated to do the absolute best for your dog’s joints – whatever their activity level.

How do we select and harvest our Green Lipped Mussels?

At Lintbells, you can believe in the traceability of our ingredients. We are dedicated to sustainability and work closely with individual farmers based in select bays in New Zealand to harvest our Green Lipped Mussels.

There are several ways to process Green Lipped Mussels to extract their natural goodness. We use a vacuum extraction process, which produces high-quality, highly concentrated Omega 3 oils. Every batch we produce is tested against stringent standards to make sure it reaches our target profile – anything that doesn’t meet that profile isn’t used. This means that you can always be 100% confident in the quality of the Green Lipped Mussel in all of our supplements.

How long does Green Lipped Mussel take to work?

In a study conducted by the Royal Veterinary College on the Lintbells YuMOVE Dog product, our supplement was proven to make a difference in just 6 weeks*. This means that your dog is getting the support they need for stiff joints in a short space of time, helping them to stay active for longer. Incorporating YuMOVE into their diet means that your dog is benefitting from the highest strength Green Lipped Mussel nutrients– why wouldn’t you? If you’re not convinced, check out our customer reviews over on the YuMOVE page.
