YUMEGA Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the frequently asked questions page. We've tried to compile answers to the questions we commonly get asked about YUMEGA. Hopefully you'll find the answer to your question on this page, but if you'd like more information or have a question not covered here, please feel free to contact us at info@lintbells.com and we'll do our best to help!

My dog food already says it contains Omega 3 and 6, so why do I need Yumega?

Whilst your dog food probably contains some Omega 3 and 6, due to the manufacturing and storage processes used, it is not possible to put all the oils into the food that your dog needs for a great skin and coat. The oils in Yumega are very sensitive to heat and light, and can't be put into processed foods as they would go off. That's why we advise you add Yumega to your dog's meal so they are getting the maximum benefits from these fresh, coldpressed omega oils.

How long does Yumega take to work?

Yumega generally takes 3 to 6 weeks to see a difference, although some owners report improvements in less than 3 weeks. It also depends what you are looking for. General coat condition will improve quickly, whilst improvements in difficult dry skin conditions or extra coat growth can take longer.

What age can I start giving Yumega to my dog?

Yumega has proved particularly beneficial in helping the transition from puppy to adult coat, as it gives your puppy the ideal nutritional foundation for a perfect coat. Yumega is safe to give to puppies once they are on solid foods, but they don't need very much at that stage (1 to 2ml maximum) and will depend on their size. As they grow, you can increase the amount you use in line with their body weight. See the feeding guidelines for more information on the correct amount to use for your dog.

Can I give Yumega to my pregnant bitch?

Yumega is safe to give to pregnant bithes - it contains only natural seed oils that can help her skin and coat. However, you might want to consider giving her Salmopet Salmon Oil instead. It contains the key omega 3 (DHA) that is crucial for her puppies' brain and eye development. Feeding Salmopet to pregnant and lactating bitches ensures their pups get enough of this essential omega 3 at a key stage in development. Once the puppies are weaned, start Yumega again to help her coat condition recover.

Will Yumega encourage my dog's coat to grow?

A lot of our customers report that their dog's coat growth improves when taking Yumega. Yumega is providing the key omega 3 and 6 oils to your dog's skin and coat, and of course their hair follicles! This is particularly useful if you are looking for new growth after your dog has dropped their coat, or after a season, whelping or a natural moult.

Will Yumega stop my dog moulting?

Moulting is a natural process and not one you should stop. However, dogs often moult more than they shoul due to environmental conditions and not getting enough omega 3 and 6 oils in their diet. Yumega will reduce your dog's excessive moulting as it provides those key omega oils. It can also help maintain your dog's coat condition during a moult as well, and help growth of the new coat. But it will not stop moulting altogether.

Does Yumega contain any colourants or additives?

No. Yumega only contains 3 ingredients - Golden Flax oil, Starflower oil and natural Vitamin E. We don't believe your dog needs lots of additives and colourants. By getting the right nutrition in place, Yumega provides your dog with what they need for a healthy skin and coat.

Can you give too much Yumega to your dog?

If you use too much Yumega, like any oil, it may make your dog's stools softer or loose. Because Yumega is a rich source of the Omega 3 and 6 oils your dog needs, you do not need to use much to get the benefits. Our feeding guidelines will tell you how much you need for your dog. If you are using Yumega for the first time, we always recommend you start with a small amount to let your dog get used to having it in their diet, and work up to the recommended amount for your dog over a week.

Why do you put Yumega in glass bottles - wouldn't a plastic bottle be easier?

We use dark green glass bottles to protect the quality of the oils in Yumega. Golden Flax oil in particular is very sensitive to light and heat, which is why you don't find it in manufactured dog foods, and certain plastics can affect the quality of the oil if it is stored in them for any length of time. So we use glass bottles to ensure your dog gets the best quality oil possible. And it has the added benefit of being totally recyclable once you've finished the bottle!

Do you do Yumega in larger sizes?

We don't currently do Yumega in larger sizes as using a 250ml bottle ensures that the oil is always fresh when you use it, ensuring your dog always gets the maximum benefit from the oil. For customers wanting larger volumes, we do offer discounts on boxes of 6 Yumega. Please visit www.yumegaclub.co.uk for more information on bulk offers.
