SALMOPET - PROVEN RESULTS
Fresh salmon oil has been proven to give a higher and more stable source of Omega 3 compared to ordinary fish oils.
The Department of Animal Nutrition at Ghent University compared three different feeding options:
- A dry dog food without any fish oil
- A dry dog food + 1% very fresh Norwegian salmon oil
- A basic commercial dry dog food + 1% basic salmon oil produced in the EU.
The study showed that there were differences between the levels of the EPA and DHA fatty acids in the three different diets. The results showed that that dogs receiving the dry food with added fresh Norwegian salmon oil had 16% more omega 3 in comparison with dogs having the basic salmon oil, and 36 % more omega 3 compared dogs eating the dry food alone.
